Ginger has been known for over two thousand years as a medicinal herb effective in treating digestive problems, nausea, hangover and gases. Modern studies have found that it is effective in the treatment of vomiting, protects the gastric mucosa and improves inflammatory conditions.
Cardamom is related to ginger and can be used in much the same way to counteract digestive problems. It is traditionally used to combat nausea, acidity, bloating, gas, heartburn, loss of appetite and constipation.
The health benefits of cardamom include gastrointestinal protection, cholesterol control, control of cancer, relief from cardiovascular issues, and the improvement of blood circulation in the body. It is also useful for curing dental diseases and urinary tract infections.
Cayenne pepper benefits are numerous and effective; it’s used to help digestion, including healing upset stomach, slow intestinal gas, stop stomach pain, cure diarrhoea and as a natural remedy for cramps.
It’s also used for conditions of the heart and blood vessels – including to improve poor circulation, reverse excessive blood clotting, lower high cholesterol and prevent heart disease.
HOW LONG WILL MY BOTTLE LAST?
Each bottle is 350 g of pure Turmeric Coconut Milk paste. It has 35 full teaspoons. On our recommended dosage of 2 full teaspoons a day as preventive dosage, each bottle will last you 17.5 days. If you are on a curative dosage, you will require 3 full teaspoons a day.
Hence, depending on your use, you would require between 2 to 2.5 bottles a month.
BEST TIME TO CONSUME
Maureen’s Turmeric is an easy formulation that can be taken at any time of the day. The reason? It is not a medication, but the turmeric paste is in fact food. As with all foods, you can take it any time of the day. Having said that, research has shown that users who take turmeric before bedtime reported better sleep. If you are taking a heavier dosage – say 4 full teaspoons a day, it is advisable to do it in divided dosages. This aids digestion and can also lead to higher absorption of the phytonutrients much needed by your body.
TO IMPROVE SLEEP
Maureen’s Turmeric can ease your digestive system and help you get to sleep faster. The effects are so great that in some cultures, turmeric is a beverage that is typically drunk before bed. If you’re looking for a way to get a good night’s rest while healing out your insides, then taking your drink at night an hour before you sleep is for you.
Medical dosages are determined based on the weight of adult individuals. On average, there is about a 70kg weight scale that is used to determine how many milligrams of any type of medication should be taken by an adult. That adult weight is cut by one-third to determine how many milligrams a child should have. The dosage amount would also be cut by one-third as well. For example, if an adult weighing 70kg takes 250 milligrams of turmeric, a child weighing 23kg would take about 83 milligrams in order for the child to not have any harmful effects.
Turmeric is a food and very safe for long-term consumption and can be consumed daily although not recommended in these situations:
1. Blood Thinning. Avoid combining turmeric with anticoagulant and/or antiplatelet drugs. Examples of medications that act as blood thinners include aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc.), warfarin (Coumadin), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, etc.), and others. Due to the blood thinning side effects of turmeric, stop taking turmeric at least two weeks before any surgical procedure.
2. Pregnancy. Turmeric should be avoided during pregnancy.
3. Stomach Complications. Interference with antacid medications is a possible side effect of turmeric. Turmeric may cause increased stomach acid if taken with antacid drugs such as Tagamet, Pepcid, Zantac, Nexium, or Prevacid.
